Mr. Jefferson Welcome Home

This week, we only had one in-class meeting, as well as a session with every section of the GBL-102 course. Something I brought up about New York is that it’s a “city for extroverts”. This is something I knew going in; Manhattan is the most densely populated county in the United States, and everyone is living in the smallest space they can. This was incredibly significant for me, as I thought that Atlanta was a big and urbanize area, but Manhattan highlighted that I’m probably better off just living in my suburbs and keeping my head down for a while.

But how draining this trip was for me was not the case for everyone. One girl who visited Maritinique described her experience as “life-changing”, and another peer from Toronto shared that she felt she’d developed leadership and communication skills that she looked forward to applying in the classroom. This was incredible to hear because I feel that ever trip tried to trigger that response to create the full SUMMIT experience.
