Meet Christine “CJ” Montgomery

 

CJ is originally from the east-side of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts where she specialized in vocal performance. She served as her class secretary during her senior year and was number 9 out of 80 in her graduating class. She used that honor along with her history of volunteer work to apply to 23 different schools and was accepted into all of them with scholarships. Only 2 months before graduation, she decided to make Agnes Scott College her home for the next four years.

CJ is a senior at Agnes Scott College, where she is earning a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies with a minor in Education and a certificate in Leadership Development through the college’s Summit curriculum. On campus, CJ serves as the vice president of Pinky Promise (the college’s Christian organization) and the senior class president through the Student Government association, and she is a member of Joyful Noise (the college’s gospel choir), Pathmakers (the college’s first- generation organization), and A.C.C.E.S.S (the college’s accessibility organization). In addition to being a part of numerous organizations, she also serves as a resident assistant in Rebekah Scott Hall, and she works as a tutor at the Center for Writing and Speaking where she has tutored several undergraduate students in various writing and speaking assignments and served alongside professors as a course tutor (the college’s version of a teacher assistant).

CJ hopes to someday teach elementary school in an urban community where she can use her energy and love for learning to empower future generations. She also wants to become more involved with Christian organizations through surrounding churches after graduation, so that she can continue to grow in her faith. In her spare time, she wants to continue writing and inspiring other people to remain positive in light of all the negativity in the world.

Her favorite hobbies include watching cartoons and D.I.Y craft projects. She enjoys reading graphic novels and comics on Webtoons™. Her favorite foods are hot wings and hot Cheetos. She will listen to any gospel music including instrumentals. Her love language is quality time, so you can normally find her spending time with family or good friends. Last, but not least, (just in case you forgot) she is a student at Agnes Scott College who is bold in her faith and loves to learn.
